     Chapter Activities

Our activities reflect the education, patriotism and historic preservation goals of NSDAR and emphasize service to veterans, youth, and our community.

Recognized by the Maryland Historical Trust as a Calvert County Historic District and classified as an urban farmscape, the house was built around 1868. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Education We sponsor Good Citizenship Awards at our local high schools and provide information to students throughout Calvert County about the Maryland and NSDAR scholarships available to college and graduating high school students in many disciplines including history, medicine, and law. For more information on scholarships available to all, please click on the links below. We also support DAR Schools six educational systems across the United States of America that encompasses a variety of special needs programs.

Patriotism We participate in welcoming new citizens at naturalization ceremonies. Project Patriot supports America’s service personnel in current conflicts abroad. DAR service to veterans focuses on meeting needs of those residents of the Charlotte Hall Veterans Home, and other veterans at local nursing homes. Wreaths Across America supports the sale and placement of Christmas wreaths on the graves of fallen servicemen and women. Additionally, we present medals to the outstanding Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps (JROTC)  cadets in each of the four Calvert County high schools with such a program.

Historic Preservation A recent project included transcribing Calvert County wills from 1880 to 1912. In the past, we have sponsored the Calvert County Historical Society for a Special Projects Grant from NSDAR that allowed the society to expand its Calvert County African American archives.
